Mohamud Ali, also known as Ali Mohamud Mohamed, is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Governor of Marsabit County, a position he has held since 2017.
He previously represented Moyale Constituency in the National Assembly after being elected in the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election.
Ali Mohamud Mohamed was elected as the second governor of Marsabit County in the 2017 general elections on the Jubilee ticket.
Educational Background of Mohamud Ali
Mohamud M. Ali completed his secondary education at Starehe Boys Centre, attending between 1988 and 1991.
He then pursued higher education at the University of Nairobi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Building Economics and Management, graduating in 1997.
Career
Mohamud Ali’s early career began in the public works sector, where he served as a quantity surveyor in the Ministry of Public Works from approximately 1998 to September 2002.
His roles during this period included working as a Principal Quanti-Bill Consultant and holding quantity surveying responsibilities.
Transitioning to elective politics, he was elected Member of Parliament for Moyale Constituency in 2008 and served until March 2013.
During his tenure in the National Assembly, he was appointed Assistant Minister for Special Programmes, a role he held between 2008 and 2011.

In the 2017 general election, Mohamud Ali made his fourth major career shift by successfully contesting for the position of Governor of Marsabit County on a Jubilee Party ticket.
He assumed office later that year and successfully retained the governorship in the August 2022 election as a United Democratic Movement (UDM) candidate, continuing his second term into the period 2022–present.
