Christopher Khaemba is a former principal of Alliance High School and co-founder of the Nova Pioneer Group of Schools, which operates in Kenya and South Africa.
He was born on January 18, 1960, in Bungoma County, where he spent much of his early life.
Christopher Khaemba later pursued his passion for education and training, beginning with a Diploma in Science Education at the Kenya Science Teachers College.
He further advanced his studies and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University.
Before entering the education sector, Christopher Khaemba served as an officer and pilot in the Kenya Air Force, a career he left after the 1982 attempted coup, transitioning into teaching.
Christopher Khaemba Career Background
He began his teaching career at Alliance High School, where he taught physics and mathematics for 14 years.
In 1995, Christopher Khaemba was appointed principal of Friends School Kamusinga, a position he held for three years before returning to Alliance High School in 1998 as principal.
During his 10-year tenure, the Alliance High School consistently ranked among the top-performing institutions in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Meanwhile, Christopher Khaemba’s leadership journey expanded beyond Kenya.
In 2008, he was appointed founding Dean and Ambassador-at-Large at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Khaemba later joined the Equity Group Foundation in 2010 as General Manager of the Education Pillar.
In 2012, he was appointed as a Special Advisor on Education to the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and in 2013, Christopher Khaemba joined the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) as Deputy Director of Teacher Management.
He also served in Nairobi City County as an executive in charge of Education, Youth, Sports, and Social Services before being promoted to oversee Urban Planning and Lands.
Christopher Co-Founding Nova Pioneer Schools
In 2015, Christopher Khaemba co-founded Nova Pioneer Group of Schools alongside Oliver Rothschild, Oliver Sabot, and Chinexi Chijioke.
The institution was designed based on the African Leadership Academy model, combining academic excellence with leadership development training.
In January 2016, the first Nova Pioneer school opened, admitting 128 male students.
It was then followed by the launch of Nova Pioneer Girls High School in 2017 and a primary school in Tatu City in 2018.
As a result, Nova Pioneer Schools has since expanded across Kenya, including campuses such as Nova Pioneer Girls and Nova Pioneer Boys in Eldoret; Nova Pioneer Girls Boarding and Nova Pioneer Boys Boarding in Tatu City; and Nova Pioneer Day School in Athi River.

Achievements
He contributed to co-founding Nova School, which now impacts over 20,000 students and 2,000 teachers across Kenya and South Africa.
As principal of Alliance High School, Christopher Khaemba restored the school to a top-tier national position, consistently ranking it among the top 10 best-performing schools in the KCSE.
In 2024, he was shortlisted as one of the ten finalists for Africa’s most prestigious education accolade by T4 Education and HP.
