Crystal Kegehi Asige was born and raised in Mombasa, Kenya, where she spent her formative years immersed in a vibrant coastal culture that later influenced her creative and advocacy work.
Crystal began her education at Mombasa Academy in 1995, completing her primary education in 2000.
She continued at the same institution for her O-Level studies, which she finished in 2005, before advancing to A-Levels, graduating in 2007.

After completing her studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol, in 2010, Crystal Kegehi Asige began her career in the United Kingdom, gaining experience in the media and creative industries.
From 2011 to 2013, she worked with BBC Bristol in production roles, contributing to film and television projects that strengthened her skills in storytelling and visual communication.
In 2013, she returned to Kenya and joined View Finder EPZ, a production company, as a production manager, overseeing projects from conception to delivery.
Between 2015 and 2016, she worked with Adam Smith International, applying her creative expertise to development-focused multimedia work.
Alongside her production work, Asige built a successful career as a musician and performer, blending chakacha-inspired coastal rhythms with contemporary music styles. Her association with Sol Generation, the record label founded by Sauti Sol, helped elevate her national profile. Political career
Crystal Asige entered politics through the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), part of the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
Following the August 9, 2022, General Election, she was nominated to the Senate to represent persons with disabilities and special interest groups.
As a senator, Asige quickly distinguished herself as an active legislator, sponsoring several landmark bills.
