Daniel Ndambuki popularly known as “Churchill” is a Kenyan Comedian. He is one of the most influential comedians, locally and internationally.

Age and Early Life

He was born in 1977 in Machakos. His nickname, “Churchill,” originated from his friend Wahome, who wanted him to have a Luo name.

He has been a key pillar in the comedy industry, especially in making many Comedians’ dreams come true.

He attended Mumbuni High School where he did his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

He joined Daystar University where he graduated with a degree in mass communication.

Career Background

He is currently a co-host alongside Maina Kageni at the Classic 105 radio show and also a host on the Churchill show.

Churchill started as an acting comedian; he was featured in the popular shows “Red Corner” and “Redyculass” alongside Kajairo.

He has also worked as a bottle cleaner in the Industrial area, working under an Indian boss, he later switched to a wood workshop.

In 1995, he started the Laugh Industry, where he scripted comedy content for audiences. However, the journey was not easy as the comedy industry did not have sustainable returns.

He auditioned in 2008, for a role in a KBC show, and he landed a role as a drunk Bwana Asava in Kisulisuli.

Churchill launched his stand-up comedy show, “Churchill Show,” which airs on NTV. It quickly gained popularity and has attracted a large viewership across Kenya and beyond.

Through Churchill’s show, has nurtured many comedians who are now popular such as Eric Omondi, Terence Creative, and MCA Tricky among others.

He also started Churchill Academy, to nurture young talent in the comedy industry.

Achievement

In 2015, he won the Personality of the Year Award in SOMA and Bingwa Music Awards.

He was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Kenya in 2015. Additionally, in 2014 he won the Kalasha Awards, as Best TV Comedy.

Further, in 2012 in the UK he won the Kenya Achievers Award for Excellence in Comedy.
