BIOGRAPHY
David Ndii is a Kenyan economist, author and columnist.
Educational Background
David Ndii attended Nyahururu high school for his O-Level before proceeding to Kangaru school in Embu County. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a PHD in the same course from Oxford University.
Family Life
David Ndii was born in Kiambu county, Kenya. He is happily married to Mwende Gatabaki and they are blessed with children. Mwende is the daughter of Peter Gatabaki, the senior chief of Thakwa who is also former Githunguri Member of Parliament.
Career of David Ndii
David Ndii has worked in a number of high-profile jobs in Kenya and beyond.
He was an advisor on the economic recovery of the country during the late Mwai Kibaki regime. He took the same role in NASA and for some years he was the chief strategist for the National Super Alliance.
He served as technical advisor on Public Finance to the committee of experts and also worked as economic advisor to the president of Rwanda.
Likewise, worked for Equity Bank as a chief economist and as an economist with the World Bank and taught at the University of Nairobi. He has also worked as the managing director of Africa Economics and also once wrote for the Saturday Nation as a columnist.
Ndii cofounded Kenya’s first independent policy dubbed the Think tank the institute of economic affairs in with Prof Anyang’o Nyong’o. He supported President William Ruto‘s presidential bid where after hi win, he was appointed as the chairperson of the presidential council of economic advisors on 15 October 2024.
With he’s great understanding and experience in economics Ndii remains a vocal force in this craft.
