Roseline Alionya is an educator, policy researcher, and youth leader currently serving as the Chairperson of the Young Captains within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, a position she holds in a voluntary capacity.
She holds a Bachelor of Education in Business Studies and Geography from Machakos University, graduating with First Class Honors.
Roseline also holds a Certificate in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from Devlui Mediation and ADR Hub, strengthening her expertise in conflict resolution and community engagement.
Profile of Roseline Alionya, ODM Young Captains Chair
Roseline Alionya worked as a Business Studies and Geography educator at Machakos School from February 2023 to December 2024, during which she built strong relationships with students and colleagues.

She also delivered engaging classroom presentations and applied positive reinforcement strategies to improve academic performance and understanding of complex concepts.
Between May 2024 and November 2024, Roseline served as a Policy Intern at The Oslo Center, where she worked with a multidisciplinary team to analyze gender representation policies within Kenya’s political parties.
At the Oslo center, she also conducted research to identify gaps in gender equality and developed policy recommendations that were presented to key stakeholders.
Between October 2018 and December 2022, Alionya worked as a Peer Counselor at Machakos University.
She provided confidential support to students on issues such as gender-based violence, reproductive health, and substance abuse.
In addition, Roseline also led awareness workshops on prevention strategies and collaborated with university health services to strengthen student support programs.
Roseline Defends Her Role in the ODM Party
Roseline went viral after her recent interview in which she defended the appointment of Calvince Okoth to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital board.
She argued that leadership should be based on impact and connection rather than academic qualifications alone.

Additionally, in defense of her role in the ODM party, Roseline Alionya clarified that the position does not come with a salary or special allowance, stating that she is serving voluntarily, like many other party supporters.
“For the record, Alionya does not earn from being the Chairperson of Young Captains in ODM. Alionya does not receive any special allowance for being the Chair. Just like the majority of you volunteered for Baba, Alionya is volunteering for the Party,” read part of the statement.
She further highlighted that her involvement is driven by a commitment to and service to the party rather than by financial gain.
Roseline argued that public criticism would not deter her, noting that her focus remains on purpose and service, since she believes in achieving what is destined for her despite opposition.
