RENSON INGONGA
Early life and Education
Renson Ingonga is a Kenyan civil servant who currently serves as the Director of Public Prosecution after appointment by President William Ruto.

When he was shortlisted for the Director of public prosecution job he was among the least popular of the 15 candidates with low coverage in the press and profiles on social media.
One of his rarest mentions in the public was in January 2016, when he applied for the position of judge of the Environment and Land Court but was not shortlisted, however, is familiar to legal minds since his admission as an advocate in April 2005.

Ingonga was born in Kakamega and attended the University of Nairobi for his undergraduate and master’s degrees in law.
His thesis centered around judicial enforcement of public interest litigation under the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.

Career life of Renson Ingonga
Until his appointment on August 17, 2023, the prosecutor was heading the regional office in Garissa at the rank of assistant DPP.
Ingonga has extensive experience in criminal law, with a particular focus on corruption and economic crimes.
He was serving as a senior assistant director of public prosecution, a position he was promoted to in 2022.
In addition, has traversed the country as the head of ODPP outposts. He started off as the head of the Kajiado office before moving to Kiambu and Mombasa counties, respectively.
Ingonga is described as a calm and collected litigant with a knack for public service delivery whose major duty as derived from Article 157 of the Constitution is to institute and undertake prosecution of criminal matters and all other aspects incidental thereto.
Ingonga succeeded his former boss Noordin Haji who president Ruto appointed as the head of the National Intelligence Service (NIS)
The tenure of office for a DPP is a non-renewable eight years.
Ingonga’s Networth
Appearing before parliamentary committee for vetting he disclosed his networth to be worth 300 million Kenya Shillings.
