Peter Orero is a Kenyan politician and an educator who won the Kibra parliamentary seat in the 2022 elections on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
He defeated incumbent MP Imran Okoth, an independent candidate, and former footballer McDonald Mariga of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Beyond teaching, Orero has held leadership positions in sports organisations such as the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association and the Nairobi Basketball Association

Peter Orero attended Kadika Primary School from 1974 to 1980.
He then attended Kanunga School for his secondary education, from 1981 to 1984, where he sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) from 1985 to 1986.
Peter Orero pursued a Kenya Science Diploma in Science between 1988 and 1990.
Later, he earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Kenyatta University between 2002 and 2006. He also obtained a master’s degree from Moi University from 2012 to 2014.
Career life
Peter Orero started his career as an assistant teacher from 1990 to 2001 under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
He then served as a deputy principal from 2002 to 2005 and later as a principal at various secondary schools (Langata High School from 2005 to 2007, Upper Hill School from 2008 to 2017, and Dagoretti High School from 2017 to 2022).
Orero is well known for developing Kenya’s top football talents such as Dennis Oliech, Michael Olunga, and McDonald Mariga.
He has also held leadership roles in sports organizations, including chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) and secretary of the Nairobi Basketball Association.
In 2022, he transitioned to politics and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Kibra Constituency, representing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
