Florence Bore Chepngetich, the newly nominated Kenyan High Commissioner to Namibia, is a Kenyan politician and administrator who previously served as a cabinet secretary for Labour and Social Protection under President William Ruto.
After months in the cold, Florence Bore was nominated by President Ruto for the position of Kenya’s High Commissioner to Windhoek in a series of changes to Kenya’s diplomatic deck.
Bore had previously been selected by the president in September 2022 when he named his maiden cabinet.
However, she was dismissed from this Cabinet position on July 11, 2024, when President William Ruto sacked all the country’s cabinet ministers.
Before her appointment as Cabinet Secretary, Bore had served as the County Woman Representative for Kericho County.
She was born on January 1, 1972, in Kericho County, Kenya.
Educational background of Florence Bore
Florence Bore began her education at St. Patrick’s Primary School, where she studied from 1977 to 1983 and earned her Certificate of Primary Education.
She continued her secondary education at Kipsigis Girls, attending from 1984 to 1987, where she obtained her Kenya Certificate of Education.
Afterwards, she proceeded to Kipsigis Girls High School between 1988 and 1989, completing her Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education.
Pursuing a career in teaching, she joined Kagumo Teachers Training College from 1990 to 1992 and earned a Diploma in Education.
Later in her academic journey, Bore attended Moi University from 2009 to 2013, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education Arts degree.
Career information
Florence Bore started her career as a teacher after obtaining a Diploma in Education from Kagumo Teachers Training College.
She worked as an educator employed by the Teachers Service Commission from 1992 to 2012, dedicating two decades to teaching.
In 2015, she transitioned to a leadership role as a Director at the Geothermal Development Company, where she served until 2017.
Her political career began in earnest in 2017 when she was elected as the Woman Representative for Kericho County in the National Assembly.
Florence Bore has been actively involved in parliamentary committees, including the Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Members’ Service and Facilities Committee.

In 2022, Florence Bore was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, where she worked on labour policies and social welfare programs until her dismissal in July 2024.

Family life
Bore is married and a mother of three children.
She is the firstborn in a family of six siblings.
Her mother is a retired teacher, and her late father was an accountant and auditor who worked in the tea industry and civil service.
