Samuel Ndirangu, popularly known as Samidoh, was born in Subukia, Nakuru County and is a celebrated Kenyan Mugithi artist and a Senior Administration Police officer.
He was born in 1990 and is 35 years old as of 2025.
Rising from a humble background, he overcame the early loss of both parents and worked odd jobs to support his education.

Samuel Ndirangu attended Oljororok Primary School for his formative education, and however dropped out when he had to offer his hands in supporting the family’s basic needs.
He completed the level at Kieni Primary School and was enrolled in Kieni Secondary School shortly afterwards.
He spent his high school years in Kieni and Oljororok Secondary Schools. He then got into Kenya Polytechnic University to study Business Information Technology.
After he completed his university studies, he joined the Administration Police Service.
Career life
Samuel Ndirangu had a passion for music from a very tender age. While he was still in school, he used to lead the choir. He was also the leader of the worship team for the Christian Union.
After college, he took his papers to the area District Commissioner to ask for a job, where he was referred to a police recruitment exercise.
During the police recruitment exercise, he was in the second position. He was recruited to join the service in October 2013.
In 2014, he graduated from the National Police Service after completing 15 months of training. His first operation was in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
This is where Samuel Ndirangu joined Kamande Wa Kioi’s band as a backup vocalist.
Samidoh’s elder brother was a drummer for the band. His career with the band spanned more than two years.
Journey as a musician
He reached a point in his career when he needed to grow out of the wings of Kamande Wa Kioi and pursue a career as a solo artist.
His professional career as a musician kicked off in 2016 when he recorded his first single, Ndiri Mutwe Mwega, which translates to My Head Isn’t Straight.
To date, the song has amassed more than 1.6 million views on the YouTube channel, which is a rare feat for Kikuyu benga songs.
Samidoh’s style of music is a one-man guitar. He plays the guitar and is backed up by a drummer and vocalist.
Later, he was transferred to Mpeketoni in Lamu County, and after he finished serving in Mpeketoni, he was transferred to Dadaab in Garissa County.
Samuel Ndirangu worked for six years, and it was here that he launched his music career.
He was recently transferred to the Athi River in Machakos County.
Serving at the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Gilgil, Samidoh was dismissed from the police unit and his salary stopped, according to the National Police Service notice dated June 9.
Family background
Samuel Ndirangu was born into a family of humble means and has two elder brothers and three younger brothers. His late father passed away when he was three years old.
Following the sad occurrence, his extended family came against his mother and her six sons, chasing them out of the place they called home.
The family then relocated to Nyandarua, a place called Oljororok. Samidoh was orphaned during his secondary education time when his mother, their sole breadwinner, passed away.
Samidoh was then married to Edith Muchoki Nderitu, whom he met back when they were both students at Oljororok Secondary School.
The couple was blessed with two kids, Shirleen and Michael. Samidoh had another son with Karen Nyamu.
