Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the death of Elizabeth Githingi; a preacher found dead at the home of Kikuyu gospel musician Mirugi Dishon.
According to a statement recorded at Kiamumbi police station, Elizabeth had visited Mirugi’s Kahawa West home on Saturday and brought his suit from Nakuru. However, she decided to clean his house and clothes as they were dirty. Mirugi left the house to run errands on Thika Road while Elizabeth was cleaning.
When Mirugi returned, he claims he found Elizabeth in his wardrobe, appearing to have hung herself with a bedsheet. He untied the body and transferred it to his car before driving to the Jacaranda Maternity Home. However, the medics at the hospital refused to pick up the body, stating that she was already dead.

Mirugi then went to the Kiamumbi police station with the body in his car, but the officers told him to report the incident to Kahawa West. The officers at Kahawa West police station also declined to pick up the body and advised him to report the incident to Kasarani police station. However, the officers at Kasarani police station also declined to pick up the body, stating that he should have reported the discovery immediately.
After shuffling between police stations with the body in his car, he was allowed to take the body to the Kenyatta University Mortuary on Saturday evening. The musician returned to Kasarani police station on Sunday to record a statement about Elizabeth’s death, accompanied by DCI homicide detectives who have taken over the investigations.
The circumstances surrounding Elizabeth’s death remain unclear, and the DCI is currently looking into the matter.
