Nonetheless, the management, while promising to refund those who had already purchased tickets, asked for patience saying it may take a while.
The Shoke Shoke management revealed that a large portion of the funds from ticket sales had already been allocated to compensate artists and performers who were set to grace the stage.
“While we would love to provide immediate refunds, we want to be transparent about our current financial situation, as these funds were deployed to support the artists who were an integral part of the festival lineup,” the statement seen by The Kenya Times reads in part.
Similarly, the management affirmed that they are working to secure the necessary additional funds to process the refunds within the next 45 to 60 days.
“We understand that waiting for a refund can be frustrating, and we request for and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time,” they added.
Consequently, the management noted that it was sad to cancel the festival and announced they were taking time to regroup, reflect and strategize for the future.
“We intend to focus on planning more sustainable activities that align with our mission and values as we explore innovative ways to engage our audience and create positive impact.
We believe that these efforts will contribute to our ongoing mission of driving change and fostering a better future for all,” the statement reads.
