Senator Karen Nyamu, during the Bahati Empire Netflix Reality Show Launch on June 6, shared valuable advice directed at renowned comedian and content creator Eddie Butita.
Speaking during the event, she urged Butita to remain committed to advancing the country’s creative industry.
She also emphasized that Butita, as an industry leader, has an important agenda to push and that he should not lose sight of it, even as he enjoys the proximity to the president.
“Butita you’re also another industry leader that the country is looking up to, push don’t just go and laugh with the president and our leaders who enjoy, you have an agenda don’t forget and keep pushing until all the deliverables have been implemented,” she said.
Furthermore, Nyamu advised Butita to take advantage of the current administration’s enthusiasm for supporting the creative sector, further contributing to the country’s economic growth.

“We have passionate leaders who you should take advantage of our Deputy president and our president who are keen to have this space open up and to be part of the economic building… so push take advantage of this administration and we wish you the best,” she said.

Nyamu’s words of wisdom came as Butita was in the spotlight for his creative prowess, particularly after accompanying President William Ruto on his State Visit to the US.
During the visit, Butita toured the iconic Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta and interacted with renowned American media personality Steve Harvey.

Nyamu’s speech was part of a larger event that brought together prominent figures from the entertainment and political sectors.
The event featured the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, who was recognized for his support of the creative industry.
Nyamu praised Gachagua’s dedication to the sector, saying, “Your Excellency when the story of the creative economy is written you will feature prominently. You have sacrificed your time.”
“You should be resting but you’re here supporting and encouraging the young people so that they can also contribute to the development of this country through a legal framework that we will all work as an administration to put in place.”
Nyamu also urged Gachagua to continue supporting the creative industry, emphasizing the importance of implementing policies that benefit the sector.
She highlighted the crucial role that creatives play in the country’s economic growth, noting that her children’s father, Samido, is a renowned creative who is reaping the benefits of being a creative.
“My kids are in international schools because of their father who is a creative, so you guys have huge potential…you can all be among the wealthy in the country, we can all wish to be in that space because of the kind of money you can make,” she said.

Also, in her speech Nyamu praised the Bahatis for their achievement and resilience even in the face of public scrutiny.
“We are all proud of this couple, if there are people who have been trolled in social media, you think I’ve been trolled these guys have been trolled worse than me.”

“I’ve watched them being trolled; I don’t know how they held together. Bahati used to call people to collaborate, and they refused because he was so messed up.”
“That kind of spirit should be an encouragement to you creatives, that no troll, no hater is going to stop your dream because right now, they are industry leaders, who other creatives look up to,” she said.
