Biography
Talia Oyando, popularly known as ‘The Night Nurse’ wears many hats. From a musician to a radio and TV host, Talia has taken the media industry by storm.
Music Journey
Talia made her first music breakthrough in music in 2001 at the age of 17 years. Together with her peers from music group ‘Talma’, they released an album ‘Jambo Rafiki’ that won an award in the same year.
Talia then parted ways with her music group and became a solo artist. It was during this period that she also collaborated with the late legendary musician E-sir to produce the song ‘Haunitishi’.
She also collaborated with Prezzo in the production of ‘Mimi na wewe’ as well as Nyambane in the production of the song ‘Sweety Banana’.
Talia then quit radio shortly after to focus on radio exclusively.
Media Career
Talia has redefined the reggae industry over time. The genre that was once regarded as music for lowlifes, has since been redefined thanks to the likes of Talia. She was able to do this through her media career.
Talia kickstarted her career in the media industry at NTV where she hosted an entertainment show ‘Top 10 till 10’.
She then moved to Easy FM where she worked as a DJ. Talia then took a hiatus from the entertainment industry.
The Night Nurse then bounced back bigger and better and reclaimed her title as the reggae queen. She returned to the airwaves at the ‘Homeboyz Radio’ with a late-night show ‘The Juice in the Mix’.
Talia then moved to Radio Jambo where she hosted a reggae show ‘Reggae Wave’ from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Talia has been hosting Citizen TV’s reggae show, ‘One Love’ since 2016 until January 2025 when she announced her exit from the station.
While she did not reveal her next step, she assured fans that she will still be around in the industry, citing good things ahead.
Family
Talia Oyando was born in February 1984 in Kenya. Talia attributes her musical success to her father Maurice Oyando who was a well-known producer.
She is married to Ezekiel Onyango with whom she has a son.
