Kenyan-Finish singer Cimberly Wanyonyi, popularly known as Cimwa, has won the 2023 Swedish Idol competition.
Wanyonyi took to social media on Sunday, December 3, sharing her excitement after winning the 19th season of the prestigious award.
She said that she was still in shock but was grateful for her fans and supporters who voted for her all through the competition.
“I don’t even know where to start. I’ve spent all day trying to grasp what happened yesterday. Last night my life changed forever. About exactly 24 hours ago I stood and sang in Avicii Arena.
“Just something like this I thought would never happen. And now I have won?! This is absolutely insane. Can’t believe it. This journey, which started almost as crazy as it ended,” she said.
Cimwa is born of a Kenya father and a Swedish mother. However, she was born and raised in Sweden.

Also, she described her experience as life changing adding that the people she met during the competition inspired her and allowed her to be herself.
From the beginning, she narrated that her life changed, and her future began taking shape as she gained courage by participating in the competition.
“I wrote at the beginning of the text that my life changed forever last night, that’s a little wrong to say maybe. Because my life changed the day I stepped into my audition and fought to stand there.

“There I started to shape my future. Therefore, it does not matter if the trip in idol lasts a week or 2 months. The courage you build from being in an idol is something you can carry with you all your life,” added the singer.

At the same time, she expressed her gratitude to all her fans and followers who supported her and those who were sending her congratulatory messages.
She especially was thankful for those who she met along the way including the jury and other participants, calling them her newfound family.
“Thank you for letting me be myself, and that you have liked me for who I am, there is no nicer response to get than that. You have been there during some of the happiest and heaviest weeks of my life. I have so much love for you.
“THANK YOU! to everyone I met along the way of the journey, everyone from the jury, to participants, to every single one of you who works to make the program the magic it is. You are a newfound family, that will forever mean the world to me,” she added.

Also, the star appreciated her runners up wishing them all the best in their music career as well.
“And thank you Saga! You are something absolutely amazing, and I can’t wait to see you shine like the star that you are. Thanks for letting me share the final with you.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you out there. Now something brand new begins,” Cimwa shared.
