A multi-agency team of officers in Eldoret arrested a suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The team comprising of officers from DCI Kondele and Turbo arrested the 26-year-old identified as Bethlemew Nabwire Ouma at his residence in Racecourse Estate within Eldoret Township.
In a statement on January 30, DCI noted that the multi-agency team acting on a tip-off managed to recover the stolen vehicle – KBN 206V make Isuzu D-Max, white in colour.
“Acting on an intelligence report on a case of stolen motor vehicle registration number KBN 206V make Isuzu D-Max, white in color from DCI Kondele,” DCI noted.
“Multi-agency team comprising of officers from DCI Kondele and DCI Turbo yesterday evening managed to arrest one suspect namely Bethlemew Nabwire Ouma aged 26 years at his residence in Racecourse estate within Eldoret township,” the statement by DCI read in part.

Upon searching the suspect’s residence, the muti-agency team also recovered several other items including an assortment of motor vehicle registration number plates, ignition keys, and chassis plates among other things.
The security agency further noted that the suspect and all exhibits were transported to the DCI Kondele offices for further police action.
DCI Crackdown on Stolen Vehicles
However, this is not the first case of a stolen vehicle reported by DCI.
On January 27, the investigative agency recovered stolen vehicles after the detectives launched a countrywide crackdown on vehicle theft syndicates.

DCI revealed that it recovered stolen vehicles in Nakuru County following a lead from suspects who were arrested on January 26, 2024.
“DCI sleuths deployed to bring to their knees all syndicates implicated in the vice proceeded to Nakuru county in a bid to effect more accomplices and recover stolen motor vehicles,” read part of the statement.
Nonetheless, the sleuths arrested a suspect at 58 suburb area of Nakuru city found in possession of a suspected stolen Toyota Vitz vehicle, believed to have been stolen from a Nairobi city dweller.
