Motorists have been urged to exercise caution as protests erupt in Huruma, Nairobi County, disrupting movement in the area.
Residents in Huruma were staging protests linked to a reported shooting incident during police operations in the area.
In an advisory on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at 01:56 PM, Securex Agencies advised residents and pedestrians to exercise caution while moving through Huruma due to the protests.

Motorists were further advised to consider alternative routes to avoid traffic disruptions caused by the demonstrations.
“Residents and pedestrians should exercise caution. Motorists should consider alternative routes where possible,” the statement read in part.
The advisory indicates crowd density as Level 2 – Light, with demonstrations affecting sections of Huruma and Mathare.
A 4-year-old boy was shot in the leg by a stray bullet during a police operation in Huruma, Mathare.
Residents allege that police officers were pursuing a suspected thief at the time of the incident.
They further claim the officers involved in the operation were not in full uniform during yesterday’s activity.

Residents also referenced earlier incidents in Huruma, including the reported shooting of a young man earlier in the week and a February 2026 case involving Sheryl Adhiambo during a police pursuit.

A postmortem examination has established that Cheryl Adhiambo, a 21-year-old Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student, died from a single gunshot wound to the head following an incident in Huruma.
The examination, conducted by pathologists Grace Midigo and Simon Omuok, found that the bullet entered through the left side of her head and exited through the back, causing severe damage to the cerebral cavity.
The pathologists concluded that the injuries were fatal and that the victim could not have survived the trauma.
Adhiambo was reportedly shot on the evening of February 7 during a police pursuit of suspected robbers in Huruma estate, an incident that triggered public concern and unrest.

Following the findings, activists and political figures called for accountability and justice over the circumstances surrounding her death.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) confirmed deployment of a Rapid Response Team to investigate the incident, stating that evidence collection and witness interviews are ongoing.
National Police Service, in their statement, stated that officers fired warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd, during which Adhiambo was fatally shot.
The service urged residents to allow due process to take its course and to refrain from further acts of lawlessness to help de-escalate tensions and restore calm as investigations continue.
