84-year-old woman Esther Gathoni Mwangi has been celebrated as the oldest user of the government’s eCitizen platform.
President William Ruto has during the first anniversary of the eCitizen directorate at KICC on Thursday, November 28, awarded Esther, highlighting their inspiring journeys.
Also, he awarded 80-year-old man Samuel Kibunja Wainaina, as the oldest male user of the platform.
According to the head of state, the two are a testament to how technology is bridging generational gaps and making life more convenient for everyone, regardless of age.

The Story of 84-Year-Old Esther Gathoni Mwangi
Esther, a resident of Nyeri County, has embraced eCitizen as her go-to platform for handling various services.
During the ceremony, it was revealed that she had recently renewed her passport through the portal, a task that would have previously required a long, expensive trip to Nairobi.
From processing logbooks to submitting her vehicles for inspection, Esther finds eCitizen to be a convenient and reliable tool.
On the other hand, 80-year-old Samuel Kibunja Wainaina, a resident of Kikuyu, Kiambu County, was hailed for his journey with Citizen.
With the help of his daughter Josephine, Samuel registered to the platform shortly after the relaunch in June 2023.

Further, he now uses the platform to keep up with his National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) contributions.
Additionally, he has been praised for his advocacy, encouraging his friends and family to register and explore its benefits.

NTSA and Immigration Awarded
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has emerged as the leading revenue generator for the Kenyan government through the eCitizen online platform.
Since its inception, eCitizen has facilitated a staggering 21,803,623 services. The NTSA, which oversees key functions such as vehicle registration, driver licensing, and road safety compliance, accounts for the biggest share of these transactions.
On the other hand, Immigration Services has taken second place, processing 7,351,982 services, largely driven by the issuance of passports, visas, and other travel-related documents.
