Former Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba has landed a new job.
Namwamba made the announcement on Sunday, October 6, detailing that he had been appointed President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance.

Additionally, he explained that the fete was awarded because of his work through the Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-Law and Chinese Jingsh Law Firm.
Consequently, Namwamba will be travelling to China to formalize the partnership.

“Honored to accept the position of President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, inspired by the ground-breaking joint work of Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-Law and Chinese Jingsh Law Firm.
“Travelling to China shortly to formalize this historic partnership. Justice is a universal language, and the globe is the pinnacle stage for its grandest manifestation,” announced Namwamba.

Ababu Namwamba Speaks After being Fired
On September 26, Namwamba shared that he was enjoying his break from the responsibilities he was tasked with as a cabinet secretary.
In a statement, he said that the sabbatical had done him a lot of good and he was living a life without pressure.
Also, while speaking at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Gala at Safari Park Hotel on Friday, July 26, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi acknowledged Namwamba’s efforts as CS, including his crucial role in resolving FIFA’s ban on Kenya from international football.
“Ababu Namwamba was at the center of negotiations with the leadership of FKF to have the ban lifted,” he remarked.
“He was vocal in communicating matters relating to sports and other aspects of the economy, and I can confidently say that his talent is still needed in this country.”

His Career
Barely two years after his appointment, Ababu was among the Cabinet Secretaries dismissed by President William Ruto.
When Ruto unveiled his final batch of nominees to the cabinet on July 24, Namwamba’s name did not make the list.
Before the role, he served as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under former President Uhuru Kenyatta between 2018 and 2022.
Namwamba also served as a Member of Parliament representing the Budalangi community in the 10th and 11th Parliaments, where he also served as the chair of the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
He joined Public Law institute (PLI), Kenya’s first ever civil society organization for public interest where he worked until 2002.
After leaving PLI, he founded the chambers of justice, a public interest trust that he ran as chief counsel until 2007. The lawyer also formed his own law firm, Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-law.
