Police on Thursday, July 13 arrested Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Makau at his Karen home today.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations raided the Mavoko MP’s home at 4am Thursday, July 13 and took him to the DCI offices along Kiambu Road.
According to reports, police arrested the lawmaker in connection with the Wednesday, July 12 anti-government protests.
During the demonstrations, protesters vandalized section of the Nairobi Expressway at the Mlolongo toll station.

Nonetheless, his arrest came hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki blamed Azimio leader Raila Odinga for the mass destruction of property, looting and loss of lives during the demonstrations.
The Interior CS noted through a statement on Wednesday, July 12 that anyone directly or indirectly involved in the crimes that occurred during the protests would face the law.
The Mavoko lawmaker was released hours after being grilled. However, he is required to visit the DCI offices on Friday, July 14 for further questioning.
According to police report, Makau denied being involved in the Wednesday, July 12 protests that led to the vandalism of a section of the Expressway.
