Activist Boniface Mwangi has been released from Kamukunji police station after he was picked up by unknown people at his home.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vocal Africa, Hussein Khalid has confirmed that Mwangi was released on Monday morning, October 28.
In a video posted on X, Boniface Mwangi is seen hanging his wife Hellen Njeri Mwangi after he was released from the station.
His wife was also in the company of NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, his two sons and daughter.
According to Khalid, the Activists was freed without any charges pressed against him.
“I can confirm firm that Boniface Mwangi has been freed with no charges. Wife, children and friends were there during his release,” Khalid said.
Boniface Mwangi spent the night at Kamkunji Police Station after he was arrested.
Khalid had earlier announced that he was held under the charges of incitement and violence.
“I can confirm that Boniface Mwangi is being held at Kamukunji Police Station in Nairobi, booked under the charge of incitement to violence. Family, lawyers, friends, and colleagues are at the station following up,” Khalid confirmed.
Lawyers led by Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo visited the station alongside Njeri the same day, but he wasn’t released.

Boniface Mwangi Abductions
He was reportedly abducted by unknown people on Sunday, October 27.
Khalid alleged that the abductors might have been drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“Just received reliable information that Boniface Mwangi has been abducted by unknown persons (probably sleuths from DCI and taken to an unknown destination. He was picked up from his family home In Ukambani (Courage Base) around 7 am,” the statement read.
Njeri revealed that six men stormed their home and took Mwangi without identifying themselves or mentioning where they were taking him.
“This morning at around 7.15, six uninformed people went to courage base and forcefully took my husband from the house. I have no idea who, why, or where they have taken him,” Njeri shared on social media.

His abduction came as he was rallying the public to occupy the Standard Chartered Marathon held on Sunday, October 27.
Mwangi was mobilizing Kenyans on social media to protest against the increased cases of abductions, killings, and recent government policies during the race.
He asked Kenyans to attend the Marathon and undertake activities that can reform the country.
“Will you show up to cheer friends at the Standard Chartered marathon? You are a crucial part of the race; your cheering will motivate and energize the athletes and help reform our country in the process,” reads part of the statement.
He directed Kenyans to Carry the Kenyan flag as a symbol of resistance against the government and wear a bandana with anti-government chants.
