Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who shot and killed a man in Eastleigh, in Nairobi County on the night of Friday, November 8, 2024.

The assailant captured on CCTV claimed the life of 25-year-old Abdirahim Ibrahim in unclear circumstances.

Police are considering a woman who was with the victim as a person of interest in the case.

CCTV captured Ibrahim conversing with a woman at 12:30am that night before the incident.

How Woman Invited Ibrahim to Her House

Speaking to the media, a relative said Ibrahim had gone to visit an unidentified lady who had been constantly calling him for the last two months.

The relative explained that the lady used to disturb Ibrahim with calls and WhatsApp messages.

“At some point, he had not replied to almost 30 of her messages. He received the ladies’ call the other night, at around 8 to 9 pm.  The lady was asking Ibrahim why he had been ignoring her. She invited Ibrahim to her house so that they can have a chat,” the relative said.

He stated that he texted Ibrahim at around 12: 50am that night and told him to come for his house key but he didn’t respond.

The relative later called but his phone was unavailable and thought he would just come for the key when he came back.

“I texted him later on, but he wasn’t replying so I just decided to sleep,” he said.

Family Demand Justice

The woman who was last seen with him was detained briefly before she was released.

“What annoys us is how the government is reluctant about the case. Someone cannot be killed, you report to the police and the prime suspect is released that same day without investigations,” said another relative.

Ibrahim was buried on Sunday, November 10, at the Langata Muslim Cemetery with his family still demanding for justice.

“I want justice for my brother, I know Kenya is a democratic country and justice should be done,” Ibrahim’s sister said.
