The family of former Kamachiria ward representative Joseph Machiri has demanded the release of his son David Machiri who was abducted by people believed to be security officers.
According to the family, armed men broke into David’s Home in Thogoto Kiambu County on Sunday, August 11, and disappeared with him.
The family has also demanded answers following the abduction of the former MCA from his home in Mathioya, Murang’a County.
Joseph Machiri was abducted moments after the men took David, but he was released on Tuesday, August 13, by his abductors who left him on the road more than 24 hours after his abduction.
However, the whereabouts of his son- David remain unknown even as the family expressed fears over the attack on their home.
“We are calling upon the acting IG and Professor Kithure Kindiki to tell us and give us the information of whereabouts of my clients nobody deserved to be held in communicado,” Ndegwa Njiru, the family’s lawyer said.
David Machiri Court Case
The family attributes their ordeal to an ongoing case where David was implicated in a case on the theft of Ksh1.5 billion at a local bank.
David appeared in court over the case and was released on cash bail even though the prosecution had requested for 21 days to hold him as they conclude investigations.
His father was named as a person of interest in the case which is coming up for hearing later this week.

CCTV Footage
Machiri was abducted after heavily armed men who were captured on CCTV broke into his home in search of unknown items.
This CCTV footage captured on Sunday night at the home of former MCA captures a white car outside the homestead.
Three men are then seen walking next to the car. Four minutes later, six heavily armed men with masks break into the home of Muchiri.
In a seemingly well- coordinated operation, the men whose rifles have torches take position inside the compound with one of the men captured carrying a detector in the night operation.
Minutes after accessing the compound, the officers switch off the power supply upon discovering CCTV TV cameras installed by the former MCA.
It was at this moment that they broke into the main house where Muchiri was in the company of his wife and grandchildren.
Family Narrates Ordeal
Machiri’s wife, Nancy Wambui, said the men who claimed to be police officers moved from one room to the other in search of unknown items.
“They were calling themselves police, so we were wondering why the police would come with violence. Aren’t they supposed to call out and cooperate with others? They told me to cooperate and said they wanted to search for things, so I told them to go ahead and search,” Wambui said.
Machiri’s brother, Kenneth Mwangi, narrated that the armed were breaking doors and covered their faces with masks.

“When I got down there, I found people with their faces and heads covered. I turned on a torch, and they told me they were police. I asked them what kind of police break doors, because I could hear them breaking in,” Mwangi said.
After a night search, the armed men left with Machiri after they were unable to find what they were looking for in the home.
“He was taken out, and by the way, he was told to kneel down and raise his hands. He asked them why they were doing that to him in front of his grandchildren,” she said.
Police Statement
Mathioya Police Commander Paul Karobia stated that the police and the Director of Criminal Investigations are following on the case.
“We have that report, and we are handling it. The DCI is closely following up, and we have high hopes because we have leads. In the near future, we will be successful, God willing,” he said.
