The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has opened the renewal of 2027 practice licenses and directed practitioners to submit their applications by November 30, 2026.
KMPDC warned that penalties would apply for late renewals after December 31, 2026, and urged practitioners to complete the process early to avoid delays in obtaining their licenses.
“We hereby notify you that the portal for the renewal of facility licenses for health institutions is now open. You are therefore required to renew your 2027 license as per Section 14(1) of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act (Cap 253) by 30th November 2026. Penalties will apply after 31st December 2026,” the Council notice stated.
According to KMPDC, the different categories of service providers will be required to meet the new set of requirements during the renewal of the 2027 licenses.
KMPDC Lists Requirements for 2027 License Renewal
In a notice dated October 9 to practitioners, the council said applicants must have accumulated at least 50 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points through the CPD Kenya platform.
Compliance is required to apply for the annual license.
Applicants must also upload valid professional indemnity cover as a mandatory document for the application.
In addition, the council explained that the online system will automatically generate a license fee.
Upon generation of the license fee, the practitioners will be required to use the invoice generated through their portal accounts to make payment.
Practitioners may pay through M-Pesa using the Lipa Na M-Pesa Paybill option using the business number 222222, enter the unique invoice number generated by the system as the account number, and pay the amount on the invoice.
For foreigners renewing their licenses, KMPDC clarified that they must obtain a letter of no objection from the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health.

How to Renew a KMPDC Health Facility License for 2027
Facilities without existing accounts are required to nominate a system administrator.
The facility must complete a nomination form with details including the health facility name, registration number, administrator’s name, national identity card or passport number, email address, and telephone number.
After completing the form, submit it to the council at [email protected].
Health facilities with existing accounts should log in to the KMPDC Online Services Portal using their existing credentials and submit their license renewal applications.
Applicants should then make the required payments to continue the renewal process through the M-Pesa Lipa Na M-Pesa Paybill option using the eCitizen Paybill number 222222.
However, the council has cautioned applicants against making payments without a system-generated invoice.
“Please note that no payment shall be made to the council without an accompanying invoice number after a successful application in the portal,” KMPDC advises.
Upon successful payment processing and authentication by the Council, the Health Institution’s System Administrator shall receive a Short Code Message (SMS) and email notification confirming the license is ready for download and printing from the portal.
For assistance, facilities can contact KMPDC through its official support channels or consult the council’s health facility licensing guidance.
Alternatively, the practitioner can contact KMPDC through its published support channels, including telephone number 0727 666 111 and email address [email protected].
