Slain Nakuru medical trainee Laban Langat had spent time in a night club in the London Area, Nakuru on the night his murder took place, a CCTV footage has revealed.
In CCTV footage shared on Wednesday, January 17, Laban Langat was seen checking in at the entertainment joint before joining two unidentified men.
At the time, Langat was dressed in a jacket, a stripped T-shirt and his usual glasses and held a phone in his left hand.
He then proceeded to take a seat in the club full of buzzling activities and fully packed with revelers.
According to a crew member of the club in Nakuru, Laban bought his friends a 750 ml drink popularly known as mzinga and spent a few minutes with the friends on the fateful night.
Minutes later, the medical intern- who had been frequently checking his phone, left the joint alone.
However, further details regarding his next destination after leaving the joint were yet to be disclosed even as detectives continue to probe into the various aspects emerging in the case.
Laban Langat was later found dead, and his body dumped in a trench at the Nakuru Referral Hospital on Saturday, January 13.
According to postmortem results, the young doctor died after manual strangulation with the pathologist handling his case noting that analysis showed stretch marks on his neck and injuries on his head as well.
Friend narrates last phone conversation
On Sunday, January 14, a lady named Monica Njoki recounted her last interaction with Laban hours before his body was discovered.
Speaking to the media, Monica revealed that they exchanged text messages on the fateful night and had a conversation extending late into the night.
She explained that Laban had not mentioned any plans of partying that night and that he hinted at plans to attend a rugby match scheduled to take place in the following morning.
Monica Njoki would, however, retire to bed at 11 PM, leaving some of the messages sent by Laban unanswered.

On Saturday, January 13, morning, Njoki woke at around 4am and started answering the messages Laban had sent, only to find no response at all.
The lack of response, as she explained, concerned her but chose to call him later in the day.
According to Laban’s family, the medical intern graduated in 2022 from Egerton University where he had been taking his medicine program for seven years.

The family revealed that Laban had been a beacon of hope for them citing his promising career.

Days after his death, doctors through the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) demanded answers on the circumstances that led to Laban’s death and called for enhancement of security for medical practitioners in the region.
And amid jitters over the measures taken to protect health workers in Nakuru, the County government of Nakuru promised to cater for the funeral expenses ahead of the ceremony slated to happen later in January in Trans Nzoia County.
The death added to a string of murders that have lately been the point of discussion across the country.
