A group of parents stormed a school and locked the principal inside his office, blocking teachers out of the institution.
The parents of students studying at Lekimbo Primary School in Bomet accused the principal of mismanaging Ksh5 million that was allocated for various school development projects.
Further, they said that the misappropriation of funds sparked an uproar among the local community.
“We will not open that office until officials from the Ministry of Education get here. These transfers are being done without our knowledge but we will not allow the new principal to get into office.
“We want to make sure that the current school head addresses these concerns so that he can hand them over rightfully,” one of the parents, Wesley Rono stated.

Parents Issue Demands From Principal
According to the parents, the funds were intended for critical improvements, including infrastructure development and the provision of necessary learning resources.
However, the school head, who was being transferred did not use the money as intended, and there are concerns that the projects have not been completed or even started.
Consequently, the parents, demanded accountability saying that they would not let the teacher go and take over another school without an explanation.
“All the funds that were given for capitation cannot be accounted for in this school. We tried asking the principal and he was rude to us so we locked him in his office and locked the staffroom as well.
“As we speak that teacher has not been cleared from this school, and he has not told us where the funds are yet he has already been transferred to another school,” Charles Rotich, another parent said.
