Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced the return of Churchill Show on NTV after two years.
In a statement on Monday, June 24, NTV said that the decision to have the show back was mainly pushed by fans who have long been calling for its return on air.
Churchill Show, led by the ‘father’ of modern entertainment comedy, Daniel Ndambuki, popularly known as Churchill, left NTV two years ago for Cape Media’s TV47.
However, Churchill Show did not stay long on air and later went off the radar.
“The wait is over, Kenya! The legendary Churchill Show is making its grand return after years of requests from you, the fans! We heard you loud and clear, and we’re bringing back the side-splitting comedy and hilarious sketches you love,” read the statement. “Get ready for a new season of pure entertainment! Stay tuned,” reads part of the statement by NTV.
Churchill Show on NTV
The Churchill Show first aired on NTV in 2007 and ended in May 2022. The show aired from 8:00-9:00 pm every Sunday until 2018 when it was paused to give room for the 2018 World Cup.
However, there was a sub-branch called Churchill Raw, which premiered every Thursday until 2019 when it ended.
Daniel Ndambuki left NTV and moved the show to TV47 in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move to TV47 brought together upcoming stand-up comedians hosted by the Churchill on March 19, 2022, at Mount Kenya University before the show went off air yet again.
The return of the show to national television will undoubtedly signal a new dawn for the comedy industry.

Comedians Nurtured
During that time, Daniel Ndambuki nurtured several comedians, many of whom are now famous, establishing himself as a key pillar in the comedy industry in the country.
At the top of this list is the self-proclaimed King of Comedy, Eric Omondi who grew from performing on Churchill Raw to becoming a brand in Kenya and Africa.
Churchill also nurtured Vincent Mwasia Mutua, alias Chipukeezy, who currently works at State House Kenya.
Others include Jasper Muthomi, alias MC Jessy, Steven Oduor, alias DJ Shiti, and Eunice Mammito.

Comedian and scriptwriter Eddie Butita also owes his success to Churchill Show alongside the late Fred Omondi, Owago Onyiro, Teacher Wanjiku, and Sleepy David.
Tom Daktari and Sammy Kioko started content creation on YouTube and other social media platforms after making their names on Churchill Show.
Francis Munyao, popularly known by his stage name MCA Tricky, has also made big strides in the comedy industry after his debut on Churchill Show.
Others include Herman Kago (Professor Hamo), Stella Bunei Koitie (Jemutai), Oliver Otieno (Comedian YY), and Nasra Yusuf Ahmed.
