Kenyan content creator Billy Simani, popularly known as “Crazy Nairobian” or “Billy the Goat” has posted a couple of tweets regarding his well-being and the ongoing Finance Bill 2024.
Crazy Nairobian was released from police custody on Saturday night, June 22, after hours of detention.
Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo confirmed his release after confusion about his whereabouts.
In a video with Crazy Nairobian, Odhiambo said the LSK responded immediately when they realized that the content creator was still in custody.
“As LSK, we earlier thought he had been freed. But when we sent someone to the station, we found that he was not there and had not been released. When we got a tip-off, we swung into action to get him out of the situation,” the LSK boss said.
Speaking in the video posted at around 10 pm, Crazy Nairobian said he is safe and thanked Kenyans and the LSK for fighting for his release.
He then took to his X account to confirm his release and urged Kenyans to reject the Finance Bill 2024.
“I’m safe, guys. Thanks to all of you for your concern and thanks to the LSK President Faith Odhiambo who did everything to ensure my safety and release. #rejectfinancebill2024,” he wrote.
Crazy Nairobian Next Move After Release
Billy the Goat posted two tweets on Sunday, June 23, confirming that he is free and back to the ongoing resistance against the finance bill.
In one of the tweets, he reacted to a post by the late businessman Jacob Juma on the protests.
“Congratulations KOT! You are true patriots of our country. Cry on this street as many times as you want if need arises. Permission granted!!” read the tweet posted on October 18, 2015. Reacting to this tweet, Crazy Nairobian said, “He had a tweet for everything that is happening now. Just imagine.”
This was followed by another tweet at 6:30 am reading, “Another day, another chance to do great or be great, we try again.”
He also asked when church services would start so he could join and thank God for another chance.
“Mnafika kanisa wapi leo niwa join? Nataka tu kusema ‘Asante’ for another chance,” reads the tweet.
This loosely translates to, “At what time are you people arriving at church today? I want to join you and say thank you for another chance.”

X Space
His release came after Kenyans hosted an online forum (Twitter space) on the X platform demanding the whereabouts of Crazy Nairobian.
The X Space, which had over 50,000 listeners, criticized the government for going after some of the Gen Zs who have opposed the Finance Bill 2024.
Crazy Nairobian was arrested on Friday, June 21, over claims of sending threatening messages to someone whose identity remains unknown.

Gen Zs Protests
Gen Zs have planned more protests on Tuesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 27, when MPs will vote on the proposed bill.
So far, two people have been confirmed dead from the ongoing anti-finance bill protests held on June 20.
This included Rex Kanyike Masai, 29, who was shot and killed on June 20 while another protester succumbed to injuries on Friday, June 21.
