Kenyan Lawyer Miguna Miguna has criticized Members of Parliament who are vetting Cabinet secretary nominees.
The outspoken lawyer stated that he has not seen any critical examination of the five nominees vetted so far, by the National Assembly Committee on appointments.
According to Miguna, whatever has happened so far are soundbites intended to please their masters.
“What Members of Parliament are engaged in is not vetting. I’ve not seen any careful and critical examination of any of the Cabinet Secretary nominees. All I see and hear are soundbites intended to please the run-away conman. Please, MPs, raise your standards of interrogation,” he said.
Moreover, Miguna’s remarks came after the parliament vetted the first group comprising of five Cabinet Secretaries nominated by President William Ruto.

The first batch of CS nominees to be vetted include Musalia Mudavadi (Prime Cabinet Secretary), Justin Muturi (Attorney general), Aden Duale (Defence), Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora affairs) and Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation).
Furthermore, the five nominated cabinet secretaries who faced the 15-member panel on Monday, October 17 disclosed various details about their professional and personal lives, as well as net worth.
They further explained how they intend to deal with pertinent issues affecting their various dockets.
Nevertheless, the second batch of cabinet nominees are scheduled to appear before the vetting committee on Tuesday, October 18. They include Kithure Kindiki (Interior and National Administration), Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury and Planning), Aisha Jumwa (Public Service, Gender and Affirmative action), Davis Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum) and Moses Kuria (Trade, Investment and Industry).
