Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary (CS) Wycliffe Oparanya’s partner, Mary Biketi, has broken her silence following an attack by unidentified goons who stormed a charity event she was attending.
Biketi, through her organization, hosted a modelling competition on Friday, April 18, at the Kitale Museum in Trans Nzoia County.

However, the event was violently disrupted by more than 50 armed individuals who stormed the venue, causing chaos and destruction.
The incident reportedly took place just moments after Biketi had taken her seat inside the museum, shortly before the models performed.

During the attack, the rear window of her car was smashed, and two female models sustained minor injuries after being robbed of their phones.
Eyewitnesses claim the attackers came from a nearby informal settlement.

Mary was swiftly escorted to safety by security personnel. She later recorded a statement at Kitale Police Headquarters, along with other witnesses.

Speaking to the press after the incident, Biketi condemned the violence, expressing regret over the disruption and reaffirming that her organization is purely focused on community empowerment.
She emphasized that she has no political affiliations and has not declared interest in any elective seat.
““We were proceeding with our programme when goons came and attacked us, stole phones and broke into cars. I want to take this strongest opportunity to condemn the violence meted out on our team while undertaking the well-meaning initiative by my Mary Biketi Foundation. My organisation is all about giving back to the community,” she explained.
“We are not in any political party. We are just empowering the youth, women and vulnerable groups in the society.”
On her part, an official from Mary Biketi’s foundation said their event was meant to give back to society.
“We are here with our foundation to empower locals, give back to society, but what has happened is not right. Why chase us away?” she posed.

Trans Nzoia tour
The attack comes just days after Mary Biketi, who has been gradually building a public profile since coming into the limelight in 2024 following leaked photos with CS Wycliffe Oparanya, toured Trans Nzoia County under the banner of her foundation.
The high-profile visit, which featured a branded convoy, a security detail, and a public address delivered from her car’s sunroof, sparked speculation that she may be preparing to vie for a political seat.
Boda boda riders in green reflector jackets branded with her foundation’s logo led the convoy, followed by a high-end vehicle from which Biketi—dressed casually in a branded T-shirt—waved and addressed an enthusiastic crowd.
Her brief speech drew small-scale traders and locals, some of whom tried to sell her their goods while cheering her on.
Relationship with CS Oparanya
Earlier in the month, Biketi had publicly addressed her relationship with CS Oparanya, asserting her financial independence amid online speculation.
Speaking during a candid radio interview, she dismissed claims that she relies entirely on the former Kakamega governor to fund her lifestyle. She emphasized that she is self-sufficient and contributes equally to their relationship.
“People think that without waziri I have no life. I want people to know that I do my own business and pay my own bills. Yes, he financed the business, and as much as he is there, I also pay my bills,” she stated.
Mary revealed that she met CS Oparanya at Wilson Airport while en route to Kisumu, describing the encounter as purely coincidental.
Addressing the public perception of their relationship, she took a moment to praise the former Kakamega governor, calling him a responsible and caring father.
