The government will be having its second annual National Executive retreat from the 18th to 21st February 2024 at Lake Naivasha Resort, Nakuru County.
In a statement on Sunday, February 18, government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura said different categories of government officials and Kenya Kwanza leaders will meet to review the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Mwaura revealed that there will be a Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting on February 19 where the legislatures will report on the progress of the 2nd session of the 13 Parliament and set the agenda for the 3rd session.
“On the 20th and 21st February, Cabinet Secretaries (CSs), Principal Secretaries (PSs), and other senior government officials, will review the performance of the current administration, in implementing the BETA plan, as was agreed upon during the inaugural retreat on the 5th to 8th January 2023, at the Mt. Kenya Safari club in Nanyuki, Nyeri County,” read the statement in part.

The retreat will also allow the government to evaluate the achievements made over the last 17 months.
The government spokesperson also explained that the state aims at consolidating the gains made, to create synergy for the execution of programs and activities in the 2024 calendar year.

The officials will be reviewing the GOK Lab Report, based on the 15 key parameters, which were deployed to assess government performance across the 23 ministries, 51 state departments and 348 Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAS).

Off Retreat & Government Road Show
Mwaura explained that the Government Road Show (GRS) commenced on 9th January 2023 at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and was concluded on 12th February 2024, at the Executive Office of the President.
Additionally, he stated that the initiative was a highly consultative process that involved CSs, PSs, CEOs of State Corporations, representatives from Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIOs) and other senior government officials.

“The aim of this process was to assess the alignment of the BETA plan and the Medium-Term Plan (MTPIV) under the Kenya Vision 2030 with other ongoing government processes, for effective planning and execution using the Whole of Government Approach (WOGA),” said Mwaura.
He mentioned that the government is keen to achieve measurable results that benefit the hustlers, by lifting them up from the bottom of the economic pyramid.
Mwaura said the government has documented more than 105 achievements of the 122 commitments that are enshrined in BETA plan.
