Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, met with David Ndii, chair of the President’s Council of Advisors, following his recent appointment as a senior adviser.
Taking to his official X account, Kuria revealed that he spent four straight hours engaged in discussions with Ndii regarding the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda (BETA) under President William Ruto‘s broad based government.
“This morning, I have spent 4 hours aligning thoughts on the way forward with David Ndii. We are upbeat about the journey ahead,” said Kuria
In his statement Kuria expressed optimism about the journey ahead, stating that the design phase of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation was now complete.
“The design phase of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation is over,” said the former Cabinet Secretary.
Additionally, he explained that the current challenge lies in the effective implementation of the BETA plan and ensuring its delivery to the citizens, he emphasized that with proper execution, double-digit growth can be achieved in the near term.
“The challenge now is to accelerate taking the product to the market, with proper execution there is no reason why we should not achieve double digit growth in the near term.”

The meeting comes after President Ruto on Friday, August 23 appointed Kuria to the Council of Economic Advisors, chaired by economist David Ndii.
According to a statement by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the appointment is aimed at strengthening the team supporting the implementation of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Agenda (BETA).
“In execution of the high mandate vested in the Head of State and Government, His Excellency the President has, today made appointments to augment the staff complement supporting the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda (BETA),” read the statement in part.
“The Head of State and Government has caused the appointment of Hon. Moses Kiarie Kuria, HSC as a Senior Advisor in his Council of Economic Advisors,” added the statement.

Moses Kuria Speaks on Being Unemployed
Kuria was among the twenty-two Cabinet secretaries that were dismissed on July 11, 2024. when President William Ruto announced the reconstitution of his administration.
In an interview on Citizen TV’s Monday Report, the former Cabinet Secretary candidly discussed his unemployment, noting a significant decrease in the number of phone calls he was receiving, to the extent that he questioned whether his phone had a problem.
“The calls have dried up. Twice I have had the temptation of taking the phone to the fundi, nini mbaya. No calls compared to when I was CS,” Kuria said.
“But life is like that, you need everything, you need the trolls, the praises, you need everything,” he added.
