Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, speaking in Mutomo, Kitui South, on Thursday, June 12, said that the Kenya Kwanza administration would soon work with Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The deputy president was speaking during an empowerment program in the Lower Eastern region of Ukambani.
Addressing residents in Kitui County, Kithure Kindiki, said he respects the opposition leader, Kalonzo Musyoka and said he is a good person and a lawyer like him.
He also said that he had noted that some people are trying to corrupt his mind and influence him into tribal politics and other negative forms of influence.
“I really respect Kalonzo Musyoka. Have you seen me or heard me insulting and disrespecting Kalonzo?” Kindiki questioned.
Additionally, the deputy president said that Kalonzo Musyoka was his brother, and he would find a way of bringing him closer to him and the government.
“Kalonzo is a good person and a lawyer like me; he is my brother, and despite the influence, I will look for him and bring him closer,” he added.
Kalonzo rejects joining the government
On June 6, Kalonzo Musyoka, while speaking in Makueni County in the company of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, said that he would never join what he termed a blood-based government.
“I will not join the blood-based government,” the opposition leader vowed.
Additionally, he announced June 25th as a public holiday in honour of the killed youths during protests criticising the government.
Kithure Kindiki made his remarks in the economic empowerment engagement, an initiative that targeted women, youth, and Jua Kali groups through their SACCOs.
This was purposefully brought up with the goal of strengthening grassroots development and advancing financial inclusion.
