Residents of Ruiru Town, Kiambu County were on Friday, November 17, treated to a drama in an incident involving a suspected armed robber.
According to witnesses, a man- dressed in a gray suit, had robbed a mobile money shop in the town before taking flight to escape from an irate mob.
The man, desperate to save his life in face of the approaching mob, ran to a nearby bank where he surrendered to police officers manning the bank.
However, the irate mob was yet to give up on their push to discipline the suspect.
The multitude kept growing around the scene leading to a tussle between the people and police officers striving to save the man.
Eventually, the handcuffed man left in the company of the ununiformed police officers.
Ruiru police confirm incident
As per a police report, the man had stolen cash from the mobile money outlet. The police, however, recovered the pistol loaded with 14 rounds and the money believed to have been stolen.

The incident came on the back of a series of crime incidents reported in various parts of the country.
A few days earlier, two Wells Fargo employees were reported to have escaped with a truck loaded with cash from a local supermarket in Nairobi.
Crime cases surge in Nairobi
The suspects reportedly ditched police officers assigned to escort the Ksh94 million cash destined for a bank in Nairobi CBD before vanishing.
After a manhunt for the duo, police officers following the trail of the money arrested four suspects and recovered Ksh 9 million in cash.

The whereabouts of the rest of the stolen money, however, was yet to be established even ass police officers assured that investigations were in top gear.
In another high-profile crime case, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested eight suspects linked to USD 438 trillion fraud involving foreigners.
Police officers recovered several boxes stashed with fake dollars, suspected stolen jungle fatigues of APS officers, military boots, customs reflector jackets among other recoveries.
