On Friday, Ugandans woke up to surprising news that the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s X account has been deactivated again.
General Muhoozi has been vocal concerning Uganda’s state of affairs and even posted some tweets that sparked controversy with neighboring countries such as Sudan and Kenya.
On one occasion, he shared a post stating that he would only need two weeks with his army to capture Nairobi, a tweet that he later had to apologize to President William Ruto.
Additionally, on another occasion, the son of President Yoweri Museveni posted a statement on X demanding an apology from the US Ambassador in Uganda to President Yoweri Museveni or leave Uganda.
Consequently, opposition leaders in Uganda have actively accused Gen Muhoozi of ruining Uganda’s image locally and internationally.
Reason why Gen Muhoozi X account was deactivated
General Muhoozi is known for his unpredictable and erratic tweets that have made some of the members of parliament and government officials feel threatened.
Opposition leaders in Uganda have summoned him in parliament to answer to the erratic tweets he has been posting on X account.
The state minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development in charge of Children and Youth Baalam Ateenyi has personally confirmed that the Uganda’s People’s Defence Forces General Muhoozi’s account has been deactivated again.
He went on to say that the reason for the deactivation is not clear.
Before General Muhoozi’s X account was deactivated, his last tweets bordered on threats directed at the Members of Parliament who had summoned him.
He tweeted, “After arresting all the fools in Parliament. I will invite them for a discussion. If anyone even coughs in a wrong way, I will ARREST him or her on the spot.”
This not the first time that general Muhoozi has deactivated his account. His account vanished on January 10th this year after another series of outbursts.

“To all my Dear followers, it has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014,” he stated.
“However, the time has now come under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF. I know you all love me, and that you will continue to follow me like the wind long after here. At an appropriate time in the future when it becomes important, and after fulfilling the Almighty God’s immediate assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to all His people in our region, we shall always re-converge. I LOVE you all so much, and in whatever you do, continue to support Uganda, Africa, and our revolutionary President, the greatest General of the Resistance, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Kwaheri, and God bless you all!!”
He would later resurface days later on the platform and posted a statement on his X account as a welcome back note to his many followers.
