The former Director of Press Service in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Salim Swaleh has sent a tearful apology to his former boss Musalia Mudavadi.
Swaleh, who was an anchor at NTV before joining Mudavadi’s team, in a video has begged for his mercy, saying that his life has taken a toll for the worst after he was arrested over fraud.
Further, he has admitted to breaking the trust of Mudavadi, saying that he is very remorseful about it.
“I hope this video finds you well. I have been trying to reach you for the last couple of weeks in vain. I have sent so many people to reach you and I have been unsuccessful.
“You have been a father figure in my life for the longest time. We have built an unmatched trust. For the last one and a half years I have served you with unmatched zeal. I broke the trust, I did, and I am so sorry about it. I am truly remorseful,” he said.

Salim Swaleh Narrates Difficult Life Since Arrest
Additionally, Swaleh has said that he has not been able to move on with his life because of the negative publicity and the court proceedings which have taken a toll on him.
He has admitted to thinking about taking his own life, because of the difficult situation he has found himself in.
“The last one month has been so difficult. I have been unable to even walk out because of the king of publicity I have received. A lot of bad things have been running on my mind, sometimes I think of taking my own life.”
At the same time, Swaleh has revealed that he stopped receiving his salary abruptly and has found it difficult to pay lawyers and keep up with the extortion from police officers.
Therefore, he has begged Mudavadi to help bring the case to a close, adding that he was already in debt.
“I lost everything in the blink of an eye. Every time we go to court, lawyers are on my neck, the police are on my neck and extorting me right and center because they think I have a lot of money.
“Every time we go there, we are told that the prosecution has not received direction on the case. It is endmonth and bills are piling up. The salary stopped abruptly, and I have loans. Please find it in your heart first to forgive us, and second, please help end this., he added.

DPP on the Fraud Case
Swaleh and four others were accused of alleged KSh5.8 million fraud and arrested on June 22,2024.
The charges arise from claims that the suspects fraudulently tried to persuade foreign nationals from Dubai and South Africa to pay a registration fee for a tender to construct two stadiums for the Afcon 2027 games.
Swaleh, along with Otieno Japolo Michael, Terry Kemunto Sese, Daniel Omondi Gogo, and John Musundi Wabomba, are accused of attempting to defraud Nexor-Emea Engineering Consultancy Company.
Moreover, the DPP had previously approved three fraud charges against Swaleh and his co-accused: Conspiracy to defraud, attempt to obtain money by false pretense, and abuse of office.
The prosecution alleged that Swaleh allowed a meeting to take place in his office at the Kenya Railways Headquarters, during which Otieno posed as the Chairman of the Government Delivery Unit in a bid to secure the tender.
