Former Standard Group CEO Marion Gathoga Mwangi has been announced as the Managing Director of Inchcape Kenya, nearly a month after leaving the Mombasa Road-based media house.
The announcement was made by Inchcape on its LinkedIn platform on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
“We’re pleased to announce that Marion Gathoga Mwangi will be joining Inchcape Kenya as Managing Director, effective this August,” the notice read in part.
In her new role, Gathoga-Mwangi will oversee the company’s operations across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
“Marion brings with her a wealth of experience, having held senior leadership roles across a broad range of industries,” the company added.

Inchcape said her strategic perspective and proven leadership will be instrumental in driving its continued growth and delivering even greater value to its OEMs and customers in the region.

Gathoga joined Standard Group in the third quarter of 2023 and has led the media house through what she described as a transformative and challenging season.

She left Standard Group in June 2025, citing personal circumstances that informed her decision to step down.
Gathoga-Mwangi pointed to several key milestones achieved during her time as CEO, including completion of the company’s Strategic Plan, which is designed to move the organisation into a business-unusual mode with a focus on long-term sustainability.
She also mentioned the progress made in implementing a Rights Issue, which she described as a critical step in stabilising the business during difficult times.
Another major move under her leadership was the reduction of operational costs. She stated that it was a tough but necessary decision made with the company’s future in mind.
Gathoga Professional Career
Before joining the Standard, Marion held several executive roles with The Linde Group PLC companies.
She served as Healthcare Director at African Oxygen Pty (AFROX), where she led initiatives to improve access to medical gases across Africa.
Her leadership also included roles as Business Unit Director of the Bulk and Onsite Manufacturing Business in South Africa and Managing Director at BOC Kenya PLC.

She has previously held senior leadership positions including Country Director at Cadbury Kenya and East Africa Limited, General Manager at Unga Limited Pic (Seaboard Corporation) and Country Director, Parmalat Botswana Pty in Gaborone, Botswana.
The former CEO has also served as a Non-Executive Director at leading companies including BAT Kenya PLC, BOC Kenya PLC and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).
Gathoga holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Degree in International Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU) Kenya.
She is a Continuous Improvement (KAIZEN) practitioner and has led successful corporate turnarounds with this expertise. She is a part time Academic Director of the Women in Leadership program at Strathmore Business School (SBS).
