Dadaab Member of Parliament (MP) Farah Maalim has continued to feel the heat after his alleged remarks about dealing with protesting Kenyan youth.
On Friday, July 12, reports emerged that the embattled MP was in a Sarova hotel after failing to show up at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) where he was summoned over his remarks.

The reports sparked outrage among Kenyans on social media drawing the attention of the hotel’s management.
In response to the uproar, Sarova Hotels Group Managing Director Jimi Kariuki revealed that Farah was no longer in the hotel and that the management would not wish to be associated with his “inflammatory remarks”.

Kariuki was responding to an X (Twitter) user who questioned Sarova Group about accommodating the MP despite his remarks.
“Excuse you Sarova White Sand, asking for me and many Kenyans, why are you hosting a man who openly said that he would willingly kill 5000 peaceful protesters daily for simply exercising their constitutional right?” asked the user.

In response, Kariuki clarified that Sarova Group does not tolerate the sentiments made by Farah and sent him out of the facility.
“Good evening. He is no longer a guest at our hotel. We asked him to leave the hotel earlier in the day. We do not in any way condone his inflammatory and threatening statements against Kenyans and will not associate our brand with such a person,” Kariuki said.
Farah Maalim Dismisses Viral Video
In a video that went viral, Farah allegedly said he would have killed 5,000 of the Kenyan youth (Gen Z) who are engaging in the anti-government protests.
He said that the “kids of the wealthy business owner, wealthy parents and those raised from ill-gotten wealth whom 80 percent are from a single tribe” were dropped off downtown and told to occupy the parliament building and Statehouse.
However, the MP dismissed the video stating that it was edited and manipulated to convey the wrong message.
Speaking on July 9, he accused Somalis of editing the video since he talked a lot the politics of their country during the launch of a book authored by the former Chairman of Electoral Commission in Somalia.
“It’s all editing, cutting and pasting, taking a word from her and another from there and putting it together. There is a lot of nonsense there. It is Somalis basically who would do that for other reasons because I also weighed in pretty much in the politics of Somalia,” he said.

“NEC’s decision is that the Hon Farah Maalim be de-whipped from all Committees in Parliament including the Speaker’s Panel. NEC also recommends expulsion from the Party to the National Delegates Convention (NDC) – the supreme organ of the party,” read part of the statement.

“Pursuant to Section 27 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act No. 12 of 2008, the Commission is investigating utterances made by the MP in Somali language, on the Gen Z demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024.”
