Kenya has appointed former Principal Secretary Geoffrey Kaituko as the Acting Head of Mission at its High Commission in Canada.
The appointment follows the departure of Ambassador Carolyne Kamende Daudi, who had been serving as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Canada.
In a statement on Friday, July 3, the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa announced that Geoffrey Kaituko has assumed the responsibilities of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, taking charge of the mission until a substantive High Commissioner is appointed.
“The Kenya High Commission in Ottawa is pleased to announce that Deputy Head of Mission, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, has assumed the responsibilities of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim following the departure of H.E. Amb. Carolyne Kamende Daudi,” the mission said.

Kaituko brings decades of experience in public service and diplomacy to the role.
Before joining the mission in Canada, he served in several senior positions in the Government of Kenya, including as a Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development and for Shipping and Maritime Affairs between 2022 and 2025.
He has also served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa for the past nine months.
The High Commission said it looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of Canada, the diplomatic community, members of the Kenyan diaspora, and other partners under Kaituko’s leadership.
“The Kenya High Commission in Ottawa looks forward to continued close collaboration with the Government of Canada, the diplomatic community, members of the Kenyan diaspora, and all partners under Amb. Kaituko’s leadership as Chargé d’Affaires,” the statement added.

Kaituko Career, Education and Achievements
Before his nomination by President William Ruto in November 2022 and subsequent appointment as Principal Secretary, Kaituko served as an Adviser for the Social Sector to the then Deputy President.
His previous public service roles include serving as the first Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly, Project Coordinator at the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), District Coordinator at the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC), and Field Coordinator at K-Rep Development Agency.
He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nairobi and Mount Kenya University and has consulted for various organizations on governance and development.
Geoffrey Kaituko is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in both the United Kingdom and Kenya, the Association of Chief Executive Officers (ACEOs), and the Turkana Professional Association.

He also serves as patron of the Turkana Lawyers Association and the Frontier Children Development Organization, and sits on the board of the Northern Rangelands Trust.
An alumnus of the Western Michigan University Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme, Kaituko holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of South Africa and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Arabic from the University of Nairobi.
He is also the recipient of the WMU Alumni Achievement Award.
Beyond public service, Geffrey Kaituko is the author of the book Getting Things Done: The Key to Exemplary Leadership.
