Investigations into the gruesome murder of Willis Ayieko, the slain Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager who was abducted before his body was found in a stream five days later, have taken a fresh twist following a sting operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
DCI officers in Nyanza have arrested two female suspects and recovered a pistol believed to have been stolen from the slain Wells Fargo manager.
Nyanza Regional DCI Coordinator Lenny Kisaka stated on Wednesday, October 30, that the suspects were apprehended after officers learned of a planned robbery attempt along the Luanda–Siaya road and set a trap.
Kisaka reported that the multi-agency team flagged down a private saloon car, but the two occupants defied the orders, prompting a shootout.
Additionally, the DCI coordinator revealed that the suspects, a man and a woman, fired shots into the air, leading police to deflate the car’s tires, which caused the vehicle to veer off the road.
Police stated that the male suspect managed to escape on foot with gunshot wounds into a nearby thicket and boarded a motorcycle.

The serial number of the pistol, according to the Nyanza Regional DCI Coordinator, matched that of Willis Ayieko’s stolen weapon, which went missing following his abduction and subsequent killing.
While speaking to Ramogi TV at the Nyanza DCI headquarters in Kisumu, Kisaka stated that police dogs were promptly deployed and managed to trace the fleeing suspect to a hideout not far from the scene.

He added that despite the suspect fleeing again, a second female suspect was apprehended at the hideout.
Police recovered a police jungle uniform, which they suspect the trio used to commit robberies along the Kisumu-Busia highway.
The duo’s arrest brings the total number of suspects arrested to three, following the apprehension of the first suspect by DCI officers in Dandora, Nairobi, on Tuesday.
Kisaka has called on members of the public to be vigilant and report to the DCI anyone with bullet wounds seeking medical attention through the Fichua hotline at 08100722203.
He has also urged friends and relatives of the late Ayieko to remain calm, assuring them that the DCI is treating the matter with urgency and that all those involved will be brought to justice.

This comes after an autopsy report revealed that the murdered Wells Fargo Human Resources Manager died from head injuries.

Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor stated on Tuesday that Willis Ayieko’s death resulted from brain hemorrhaging due to severe head trauma.
“There was bleeding in the brain. In addition, there were bruises on the wrists caused by some cuffs found on him. There were also missing tissues on the mouth, ear, and cheek,” he said.
Oduor’s findings followed a postmortem examination conducted at the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
The examination was attended by Ayieko’s family, Siaya Governor James Orengo, along with Alego Usonga legislator Sam Atandi and Gem’s Elisha Odhiambo.
The Chief Pathologist further explained that the missing tissues on his body were a result of animal predation at the site where the body was found.
