Nyawira wa Kariuki Arrested
Her arrest has sparked online debate, with a majority of netizens criticizing the political nature of the move. Journalist Jimmie Wanjiru commented:
“Now in political parties, if they sense you have an association with the opposition, una maliza mwendo. Gloria Orwoba is the latest victim, together with some MCAs in Nyeri. When will Kenya mature politically? It started with Uhuru in his second term, and now it has extended to Ruto’s administration. Politics! Politics day and night—when will all our focus be on stabilizing the economy, paying debts, and becoming self-reliant?”

Gachagua Condemns Police Remarks on Koimburi’s Abduction
The arrest of Nyawira comes just days after several people linked to Juja MP George Koimburi, another close ally of Gachagua, were arrested for allegedly aiding in Koimburi’s alleged fake abduction.
The National Police Service (NPS) and DCI have maintained that Koimburi’s abduction was fabricated, citing inconsistencies such as mismatched vegetation in a viral video purportedly showing Koimburi abandoned at a coffee plantation allegedly owned by businessman Jimmy Wanjigi.

The police also noted that Koimburi evaded arrest on May 23, 2025, by fleeing on a motorcycle, and his family blocked investigators from questioning him in hospital.
Gachagua and opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua, have condemned these incidents as part of a broader pattern of political repression targeting Gachagua’s supporters, particularly in the Mt. Kenya region. They argue that the arrests, including are attempts to silence critics of the government.
