Bungoma Governor and former Speaker of the Senate Kenneth Lusaka on Sunday, April 21 announced the untimely demise of his brother, Noah Sikhila Lusaka.
Governor Lusaka confirmed that his brother tragically lost his life in a car accident.
“I am deeply saddened to announce the untimely demise of my beloved brother, Noah Sikhila Lusaka, in a car accident,” said Governor Lusaka.
Lusaka described Noah as a distinguished gentleman, whose presence and demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Governor Lusaka Recounts Memories Shared Together
In his statement, the Bungoma Governor recounted the cherished memories he shared with his brother, finding solace in the moments they had together.
“As we grieve this profound loss, I find solace in cherishing the outstanding memories we shared,” he stated.
Noah’s legacy, he pointed out, would endure through the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him.
“He leaves an indelible mark that will forever remain engraved in our hearts, my utter sympathies go to my mother, siblings, friends, and the extended family during this awfully difficult time,” said Governor Lusaka.
According to reports, Noah’s car rammed into a cane trailer in Kamukuywa Market leading to his immediate death.
National Road Safety Crashes Statistics
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) of Kenya recently disclosed that from January to April 1, 2024, a total of 1,108 Kenyans lost their lives in road accidents.
The statistics provided by NTSA revealed a concerning trend, with 1,189 fatalities reported in 2024 compared to 1,129 during the same period in the previous year.
Additionally, the number of slightly injured individuals rose by 56%, reaching 2,693 in 2024 compared to 1,726 in 2023’s first three months.

Tragically, fatal accidents continue to occur, as evidenced by the recent incidents along major highways like the Nairobi-Mombasa and Kisumu-Kakamega routes.
Pedestrians accounted for the highest number of fatalities, with 436 lives lost, followed by passengers at 255. Motorcyclist fatalities saw a slight decrease from 311 in 2023 to 276 in 2024 for the same period.
Some of the accidents are also attributed to the ongoing heavy rains that have caused flooding in roads across the country.
