The Kenya Prison Service (KPS) under the Ministry of Interior & National Administration has announced the recruitment of prison constables in all the 47 counties.
In a notice on April 7, KPS informed the public that there will be a recruitment exercise of Prisons Constables (Male & female) on April 30, 2025.

KPS stated that the recruitment exercise will be absolutely free.
It added that bribery and other acts of corruption are also unlawful.

“Any person presenting themselves for recruitment with falsified or fake academic/professional certificates, identity cards, or engaging in any acts that amount to corruption shall be disqualified and prosecuted,” KPS warned.
Qualification of Prison Constables
Prospective candidates wishing to join the KPS must meet the following conditions and possess academic qualifications as indicated.

- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
- Must have a valid National Identity card.
- Have no criminal record.
- Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Minimum grade of D+ and above.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 28 years.
- At least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet 2 inches tall for women.
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Must have good bearing and clear vision.
- Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during the initial training period.
On recruitment, candidates will undergo a paramilitary initial training lasting not less than nine months.
Prospective candidates must carry their original National Identification card, birth certificate, KRA PIN certificate, academic certificates and other testimonials on the day of recruitment
“Interested candidates are therefore invited to attend the recruitment exercise at the centers indicated,” KPS said.

Recruitment Centres in Select Counties
In Nairobi, the recruitment will be conducted at Nyayo Stadium at 8:00 a.m, Nyandarua Stadium, Gigiri DCC’s Office, Pumwani Playground, Mathare Depoty Playground, Kasarani Stadium, DCC’s Ruaraka and City Stadium.
Others are: Huruma Ground, Shepherds Ground, Jakaranda Grounds, Tena Grounds, Vision Grounds, Kamukunji Sports Grounds, DCC’s Office Njiru, NYS Headquarters and PSTC-Ruiru.
Recruitment centres in Mombasa include: Likoni Approved Grounds, Mvita Grounds, A.S.K Show Grounds, Kisauni DCC’s Office, Changamwe Oil Refineries and NYS Mamlai Grounds.

In Kisumu, KPS will recruit at DCC’s Office-Ojola, DCC’s Office Kombewa, Mamboleo Show Ground, Kenyatta Grounds, Nyando DCC’s Office, Nyakach DCC’s Office, Chemelili Sugar Company Stadium and Kadibo DCC’s Office.
Nakuru recruitment centres include: DCC’s Office Naivasha Kihoto, Gilgil Stadium, Olonguruoni Stadium, Molo Municipal Stadium, Njoro DCC’s Office, Subukia Play Ground, Kiugoini DCC’s Office, Afraha Stadium Nakuru, Kaptembwa Grounds and Rongia DCC’s Office (Kampi Ya Moto).
KPS has warned members of the public that recruitment will only be conducted at the listed recruitment centers and on the day as indicated.
