The government has released Ksh1.192 billion to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide.
In a statement on January 17, Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Thaara Muoria said the funds marks a pivotal moment in the government’s commitment to skills development.
She explained that the injection of resources aims to foster an environment conducive to effective learning and skill acquisition.
“With the focus being on enhancing accessibility and elevating the quality and relevance of TVET, the funds will be channeled into various initiatives.
These include providing financial assistance to individual trainees, a move designed to empower aspiring professionals in various fields,” read the statement in parts.
The funds will provide crucial support for TVET tuition, training materials, utilities, and co-Curricular activities.
Dr. Muoria said the strategic investment aligns with broader goals such as reducing youth unemployment and driving sustainable economic growth.
“The unwavering commitment to delivering employable skills through underscores its dedication to supporting key economic sectors,” she said.
The PS also said the money will ensure that current TVET trainees have ample opportunities for success within and beyond the institution.
She emphasized that the government would apply the inclusive principle of training for everyone and leaving no one behind.

Available courses
TVET students can apply for courses in any of the following levels diploma, craft certificate and artisan certificate.
You will need a KCSE mean grade of C-(minus) to apply for diploma programmes.
Additionally, applicants need a mean of D(plain) to apply for craft certificate courses and a mean grade of D-(minus) or E to apply for artisan certificate courses.

How to apply for KUCCPS TVET courses
To apply for KUCCPS TVET courses, you will first need to login to your KUCCPS student portal since all applications are done online.
You will need your KCSE index number, the year that you did KCSE and either your KCPE index or birth certificate number to login.
Once logged in you can navigate to the courses/programmes you want and add them to your course basket.
The next step is to confirm your choices and pay for your KUCCPS TVET application through Mpesa.
