HELB Offers Solution to Students Receiving Error Message

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has addressed complaints from applicants who have been receiving error messages while navigating the loan app.

In a statement on Thursday, September 12, the loans board noted that some applicants were receiving the error notification when inputting their ID number.

Further, the statement explained that the message notifies the user that their national ID has been activated on another device.

However, HELB notes that it is not a cause for alarm or panic.

How to Fix the Error Message on HELB APP

To fix the problem and proceed with application, the funding board has directed applicants and users to reach out to their support team.

If the user cannot immediately reach the support team, HELB has directed that he or she sends a direct message on social media.

Moreover, you will be required to provide your registered phone number and ID.

“If you’re seeing an error message on the HELB App, that your National ID is activated on another device, don’t panic! Provide your registered phone number and ID in the DM and we’ll help you get back on track in no time.”

Application Deadline

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba in a statement on August 23 stated that the application portal for appeals will remain open until 31st December 2024, to allow for late appeals.

Additionally, the Principal Secretary (PS) for Higher Education Dr. Beatrice Inyangala said that the ministry of education had sent chiefs to villages to collect information on students after it received appeals from over 12,000.

This followed disbursement of funds under the new education funding model.

Additionally, the PS said that although the students were uncomfortable about their household contribution, it is either Ksh5,000 or Ksh30,000 for Band 1.

“We have about 12,000 students who have lodged their appeals. Most of them are uncomfortable about their household contribution whether it is Ksh5,000 or Ksh30,000 which is the highest contribution for band 1.

“We did send the chiefs to the villages to help us collect further information because we are trying to validate and triangulate the information that we have on record as well as the reasons that the students gave for appeal and the evidence on the ground,” she stated.
