Political analyst Herman Manyora has been reinstated as the chairman of Nairobi Hospital.
The decision clears the way for Manyora to officially resume his role at the helm of the hospital’s board.
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi confirmed the development on his official X account, noting that the decision would restore order at the embattled Nairobi Hospital.
“Finally, some law and order at Nairobi Hospital with the election of Prof Herman Manyora as Chairman of the Board,” Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi said.
This comes after the High Court suspended the appointment of Manyora as the chairperson of the hospital in July this year, amid leadership wrangles at the premier facility.

Herman Manyora Reinstated as Nairobi Hospital Chair
Justice William Lopokoiyit suspended the resolutions made on June 30, 2025, appointing the University of Nairobi lecturer as the new chairperson, following a petition by two members of the hospital who moved to court.
They argued that the selection process was flawed, lacked openness, and did not comply with legal and constitutional guidelines for public appointments.
The petitioner subsequently urged the court to declare Manyora’s appointment unconstitutional and void, and to nullify the gazette notice that formalized his installation to the post.
The Nairobi Hospital faction led by Prof. Herman Manyora previously claimed that the Board convened a Special Meeting at 9:30 a.m. on that day, during which a unanimous resolution was passed to remove Dr. Barcley Onyambu from the chairmanship and immediately elect Prof. Manyora as the new Chairperson of the Board.

Legal Battle
The group maintained that the meeting and its resolutions were fully in accordance with the hospital’s Articles of Association and that all procedural requirements, including quorum and voting thresholds, were met.
“Dr. Barcley Onyambu was lawfully removed from the position of Chairman, and Prof. Herman Manyora was duly elected in his place,” the statement read.
“Prof. Manyora is now fully vested with the mandate, authority, and responsibilities of the office of Chairperson of the Board and is legally entitled to discharge all functions attendant to the role.”
According to the Manyora-led faction, Dr. Onyambu declined to relinquish his position, prompting the matter to be taken to the High Court. On July 3, the court issued interim conservatory orders affirming the resolutions of the meeting and restraining Dr. Onyambu, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Company Secretary from taking any actions that could interfere with the new leadership’s mandate.
The court further barred them from convening or presiding over any board meetings, retreats, or similar governance activities pending further directions, stressing that any contravention of the orders would amount to contempt of court.
