The family of former TV journalist Jacque Maribe has welcomed the ruling by High Court judge Justice Grace Nzioka acquitting their daughter of murder charges in Monica Kimani’s case.
Jacque’s father Mwangi Maribe expressed his gratitude to God, adding that it had been a long and tortuous journey.
Mr Maribe who was speaking to the press outside the Milimani Law Courts said his family had been subjected to a long period of suffering both financially and emotionally.
However, he affirmed that they were convinced that their daughter would be eventually acquitted.
“On behalf of the Maribe family we want to express our thanks to the Almighty God, it has been tortuous journey,” the father said.
“We have suffered both emotionally financially and everything else. But we thank God it has come to this kind of an end. We were never in doubt about the outcome.”
On her part, Jacque’s mother equally expressed her gratitude to God and everyone who stood with the family and Jacque during the case.
She reflected on the journey and experiences her family had to endure, mostly due to misinformation and reports by some media.

“Many a times we don’t understand what is happening and why it is happening. It has not just happened; the Lord has been involved in this. Even when the fire appears like it is melting our emotions, we have been encouraging ourselves in the Lord,” she noted.
“Seek to know the truth, do not rush to say think you have not researched about.”
Jacque Maribe quotes Bible verse
On her part, Jacque Maribe quoted a scripture from the Bible from John 8:32, stating that “Know the truth and the truth shall set you free”.
Also accompanying Maribe was Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi who has since the onset of the case stood in solidarity with the former Citizen TV news anchor.

Her father, Mwangi Maribe, has also been seen in court appearances painting a picture of a united family amid the challenges.
In the ruling delivered on Friday, February 9, Justice Nzioka found that Jowie Irungu was guilty of the murder charges in the case.
However, the judge ruled that the prosecution had failed to present enough evidence showing Maribe’s involvement in the murder of Monica Kimani which took place in September 2018.
