Leading domestic air carrier Jambojet has been named Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2025 by the World Travel Awards.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the airline has received the prestigious title, cementing its position as a dominant player in regional aviation.
Jambojet is the recipient of Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Speaking during the award ceremony on Saturday, June 28, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Director Ground Operations, Cargo & Security, Charlie Owino affirmed that the win serves as a testament to the airline’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional quality service through continuous improvement and innovation.
“This remarkable milestone marks our unwavering commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible air travel experiences that connect people across the region,” he said.
“Our customers, staff, and partners are an integral part of what we do. Winning this award for a consecutive fourth time is timely and aligns perfectly with our new brand promise of making experiences More Than a journey.”
Jambojet Crowned Africa’s Best Low-Cost Airline 2025
The World Tourism Award comes at a time when Jambojet has set its sights on strategic regional growth with increased frequencies and fleet capacity.

On Thursday, June 26, the airline welcomed back its first Dash 8-Q400 aircraft (JXA) to its fleet, which brings the total number of aircraft to 9.
“JXA’s return is a symbol of our commitment to sustainable growth, investment in fleet reliability, continued operational excellence, and above all, customer satisfaction,” said Karanja Ndegwa, CEO & Managing Director in a statement to newsrooms.
“We will continue to pursue our growth strategy across the region of serving the unserved and underserved markets, by adding additional routes and more frequencies to our existing routes, giving our customers more to choose from, while also optimizing our operations,” added Mr. Ndegwa.
The airline is banking on its increased investment in its fleet to boost its network footprint and add more frequencies on its existing routes.

Airline Continues to Dominate Low-Cost Regional Aviation
Jambojet is a regional service low-cost airline that flies to 6 destinations from its primary hub in Nairobi – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda (Diani), and Lamu.
The airline also operates 3 routes from its secondary hub in Mombasa to Kisumu, Eldoret, and Zanzibar. It also has Cargo operations across its network.
The airline, launched in April 2014, became the only low-cost carrier in Kenya to be awarded the coveted IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA registration) in July 2019.
IOSA is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess an airline’s safety, operational management, and control systems.
The airline is also the 2018 and 2019 winner of the De Havilland Canada Reliability Award for outstanding performance in dispatch reliability on the Dash 8-400 series in Africa and the Middle East.
