President William Ruto on Wednesday, February 8 hosted 30 MPs from the Jubilee party at State House Nairobi in a move aimed at having the legislators break ranks with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
Ruto’s meeting with the MPs comes just a day after he met a section of parliamentarians from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Nyanza region.
According to ODM, the Head of State is on a mission to destabilize the opposition after Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Martha Karua planned a series of political rallies across the nation aimed at having Ruto to step down from office.

“Three months ago, the Azimio la Umoja leadership began rallies to push for the reclamation of its victory from the hands of the illegitimate administration in order to provide the leadership Kenyans want, but all along, we knew the enemy will not sit pretty,”
“They have started spending stolen money to hoodwink some of our leaders with the aim of trying to scuttle our activities. Such meetings are aimed at diverting the attention of Kenyans from issues they are faced with, ranging from the high cost of living, unbearable school fees for their children, and corruption,” Etale said.
ODM further accused the MPs of undermining their party boss Raila, insisting that their objective to press the Kenya Kwanza government to resign will go on.
“Since the victory of our party leader Raila Odinga was stolen and the will of the people subverted after the August 9, 2022 General Election, some leaders have elected to undermine the leadership of the party and chosen to go against the will of the people who elected them to positions they hold,” ODM said in press release signed by the party’s Director of Communication Philip Etale.
Among the MPs who met Ruto at State House were Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba-South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East), Paul Abuor (Rongo), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Walter Owino (Awendo) and Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Langata).
