Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour popularly known as Jalang’o has said the head of state personally invited him to statehouse for a meeting on Tuesday, February 7.
Jalang’o stated that he received a phone call from President William Ruto ahead of the meeting, adding that the agenda was development-oriented and not political.
“The President personally called me to attend the meeting at State House and I accepted the invitation,” said Jalang’o. The agenda of the meeting was heavily development. We discussed projects that the President promised to implement when he visited Luo Nyanza last month.” Jalang’o stated.
The said meeting was also attended by a section of leaders from the Luo Nyanza region.
Moreover, Jalang’o’s remarks came after the MPs meeting with the head of state became a trending topic on twitter. Photos of the legislators and the president were shared on social media sparking online uproar.

Nonetheless, the ODM party issued a statement terming some of the MPs who were at State House as “selfish leaders who only care about their stomachs and not the well-being of the millions of poor Kenyans.”
Furthermore, the Azimio La Umoja alliance party issued a statement threatening to take action against disloyal Members of Parliament.
As such, minority leader Opiyo Wandayi said Azimio has organized a must-attend meeting of their National Assembly members on Thursday.
Nonetheless, the nine MPs who attended the meeting with President Ruto are Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, MPs Felix Odiwuor (Langata), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Walter Owino (Awendo).
Independent MP Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East) also attended the morning meeting at State House.
